If the government takes such a decision, the shortage of vaccine doses in India will be greatly relieved. The government has allowed Russia's Sputnik-V vaccine to be imported into India amid another wave of covid. The vaccine will soon be available in India. In addition, Pfizer, Modern and Johnson & Johnson have also discussed importing doses of the vaccine.
An official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the government was also considering allowing private companies to import the vaccine. Some private companies will be able to sell the vaccine in the market, with the government not interfering in any way. All of these companies will also be allowed to determine the price of the vaccine. At present, the government has complete control over the purchase and sale of the Covid-19 vaccine across the country.
